KFC fans have been given the chance to own a piece of fast-food history, with personal belongings of Colonel Harland Sanders going under the hammer.
Nearly 100 items connected to the KFC founder were auctioned in Kentucky, including his famous black bow tie, watches, pressure cooker, cutlery and even an original cash register.
One of the biggest attractions was Sanders’ personal 1964 planner, containing a handwritten list of herbs and spices. Before you get too excited, KFC previously investigated and determined it wasn’t the legendary secret chicken recipe.
The planner sold for $30,000, while his clip-on bow tie fetched $8,000 and an honorary Kentucky Colonel certificate went for $23,000.
More than 500 bidders took part, with the auction raising almost $300,000.
Proof there’s serious money in old KFC memorabilia.
Sadly, no half-eaten bucket of Original Recipe was included.
