Luxury fashion has officially entered Jurassic Park.
A Dutch company has unveiled a handbag made using collagen derived from Tyrannosaurus rex fossils, blended with lab-grown protein to recreate leather similar to what dinosaurs may have had millions of years ago. The creators say no dinosaurs were harmed in the making—which is comforting, considering they’ve been extinct for 66 million years.
The handbag is expected to sell for hundreds of thousands of dollars and is being promoted as the ultimate sustainable luxury item.
So next time someone asks if your handbag is vintage, imagine replying, “About 66 million years old.”
It’s either the future of fashion… or proof we’ve officially run out of ideas.
