When you think of flying First Class, you’d probably picture caviar, lobster or a perfectly cooked steak.
But one airline has gone in a very different direction, putting a gourmet hot dog on its premium menu. SWISS International Air Lines has introduced what’s called the “Bastardo” – a luxury take on the classic sausage in bread. It features a premium Swiss sausage, topped with apple chutney, sour cream, creamy coleslaw and crunchy roasted nuts, all served in a freshly baked artisan roll.
The airline says it’s celebrating Swiss flavours in a fun and modern way, giving passengers something a little different from the usual fine dining experience. While some travellers think it’s a brilliant twist on comfort food, others reckon if you’re paying First Class prices, a hot dog is the last thing you expect to see on the menu.
So… would you be happy with a gourmet hot dog at 35,000 feet, or would you expect something a little fancier?
