Iconic Aussie sandwich store Subway has added the golden, delicious Anzac Biscuit back onto their menus, with a percentage of all proceeds set to go to Aussie veterans through The Returned & Services League of Australia (RSL)
Instagram foodie Russ Eats took to Instagram to explain why Subway ever stopped selling the classic biscuit.
“So back in 2008, Subway made a request, and that’s what you’ve gotta do to sell an Anzac biscuit you’ve gotta make a request, and it was denied to alter the recipe to make it more affordable because it didn’t follow the old fashioned proper recipes,” he said.
“Then Subway basically said ‘well f**k it we can’t make it cheap so we’re taking it off the menu”
Now, 17 years later, Subway has re-released the Anzac Biscuit for a very good cause. Greg Melick is RSL’s National President, and he says this support will be important in the lead up and around Anzac Day this year.
The Subway Anzac Biscuit is available from now through to 4 May, 2025.
