Australians could soon be swapping their usual bacon and egg breakfast for fried chicken, with KFC confirming it is expanding its breakfast menu across the country following successful trial runs.
The fast-food giant has announced that a nationwide rollout is now underway after testing breakfast offerings at Sydney Airport and selected restaurants. While not every store will serve breakfast immediately, more locations are expected to come online over the coming months.
The breakfast menu is designed to put a KFC spin on the morning meal, featuring options such as the Original Crispy Brekkie Tower, Zinger Brekkie Tower, breakfast wraps, toasties, bacon and egg rolls, as well as coffee and iced coffee.
KFC believes breakfast represents one of the biggest untapped opportunities in Australia’s fast-food industry, with the morning rush accounting for a significant share of daily spending. The company is hoping to attract commuters, tradies, shift workers and anyone keen to start the day with something a little different.
The rollout forms part of a broader strategy that also includes expanding late-night trading hours and introducing new beverage offerings, as the brand looks to grow beyond its traditional lunch and dinner markets.
Customers eager to give the new menu a try may need a little patience, however. KFC says breakfast availability will vary from store to store as the rollout continues, with participating restaurants and launch dates differing across Australia.
