It was the milkshake that took over TikTok, and now McDonald’s is launching the Grimace Shake in Australia.
In June 2023, McDonald’s released the berry-flavoured purple shake in honour of Grimace’s 52nd birthday.
It went viral on TikTok through the hashtag #GrimaceShake, where users would begin the video wishing the character a happy birthday and taking a sip. The videos would then cut to them appearing to be ‘dead’ while in strange positions and locations.
Now, Aussies can try it out for themselves after demand for the drink was fueled by online speculation the purple shake was coming Down Under.
From October 4, the Grimace Shake will be available in Australia for a limited time only.
“Grimace has been making fuzzy waves around the globe, and now it’s our turn to celebrate,” said Amanda Nakad, marketing director for McDonald’s Australia.
“We thought there was no better way to channel the energy of our loveable pal than by bringing you the Grimace Shake.
“The Grimace Shake is fun, vibrant and bursting with flavour. It’s a tribute to Grimace and the joy he’s brought to Macca’s fans over the years.
“So buckle up – we’re finally giving Aussies what they’ve been waiting for and we know they’re going to LOVE it.”
