Did somebody say “Goodbye Menulog?”
In a shocking national closure, Menulog has announced it will be ceasing operations across Australia in the next few weeks due to “challenging circumstances”. The food delivery service has announced that as of midnight on November 26th it will no longer operate in Australia.
“Unfortunately, today we announced Menulog will no longer operate in Australia,… As the only Australian-born platform, Menulog has a proud history but ultimately, as a business, we have been navigating challenging circumstances and the decision was made to close local operations…. Please be advised that our website and app will remain operational until 23:59 AEDT Wednesday 26 November, but will not be accepting orders after this date,… Menulog will honour any unused account credits or vouchers over the next two weeks,… If you have any questions about using your voucher or account credit, our team is here to help…. Finally, we would like to sincerely thank you for your support over almost 20 years.” – Menulog.
Menulog’s closure marks the departure of the only food-delivery service that began in Australia, and comes after the withdrawal of Deliveroo in November 2022 that also impacted 120 jobs.
The closures come despite growth in the market, with Statista reporting more than 8.3 million Australians used food-delivery services in 2024 and predictions from Mordor Intelligence that the food service market would grow by 11.45 per cent annually.
