In a whimsical twist of events, the town of Landerneau in Brittany, France, has reclaimed the Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people dressed as Smurfs. On May 17, 2025, a total of 3,076 participants donned blue attire and white hats, surpassing the previous record of 2,762 set by Lauchringen, Germany, in 2019.

This achievement marks Landerneau’s third attempt at the record. Their 2020 effort, which saw 3,549 participants, was not officially recognized, and a 2023 attempt was hindered by inclement weather .

Participants transformed the town into a sea of blue, complete with white trousers and the iconic Smurf hats. The atmosphere was electric, filled with singing and dancing, as attendees celebrated their shared love for the beloved blue characters.
