Since its debut in 2024, the Big Design Market’s sibling event The Little Food Market has quickly become one of the best events to discover new food products and see demonstrations from some of the city’s best culinary talent.
This year, the three-day festival takes place at the Royal Exhibition Building from Friday July 17 to Sunday July 19. Stallholders include Chappy’s Chips, Lard-Ass Butter, olive oil company Goldi, fermentation brand Acide, and Korean condiment maker Cham Cham. Plus, Heathcote Gin, saké store Nomu Saketen, The Gospel Whisky and Zonzo Estate.
The program also features a stacked line-up of free demonstrations hosted by food journalist Dani Valent and Hilary McNevin of Turnip Media. On Friday and Saturday, there’ll be a portokalopita (a Greek cake) demo from cookbook author Julia Busuttil Nishimura and another on building the perfect tart with Dessert Masters winner and Tarts Anon founder Gareth Whitton. On Sunday, Tobie Puttock will show you how to make the perfect apple strudel and Sandra Seah of Six-Eyed Scorpion will teach you how to elevate whipped ricotta and miso carbonara.
