A woman in France has gone viral after revealing she is romantically in love with a tram known simply as “3013”. The 44 year old woman from Strasbourg says she identifies as objectophile, meaning she experiences emotional and romantic attraction toward objects rather than people.
Speaking on French television, she described the tram as beautiful, comforting and emotionally important in her life. She even writes letters to it and regularly travels to see it. The woman insists the relationship is genuine and says objectophilia is often misunderstood by the public.
The unusual story has exploded online, with social media divided between curiosity, support and disbelief. While some people joked about the relationship “going off the rails”, psychologists say object attachment is a recognised phenomenon, although extremely rare.
Safe to say this is probably the first love story where the partner literally runs on tracks.
